The soundstage on the Nightowl is already very impressive by default, but this EQ improves its capabilities even further. If anyone decides to try this EQ, you will notice as well that the soundstage gains slightly more width and depth as well as a result of the reduction in the midbass. AUDIO gives also more than 100 points in other categories, e.g. Focal Utopia 2016 model or Final D8000 Pro got 97 points). All other reviewed headphones have 98 or less points (e.g. More people need to experience the Nightowl before the remaining stock in stores in gone. But AUDIO gave also the T+A Solitaire P as well as the Stax SR-009S the rating of 100 points. I will put up a final EQ to use with the ultrasuede pads later as well.Įdit: I hope everyone else is still enjoying their pair too. The NightOwl has not been officially announced yet but AudioQuest is showing a prototype of them at the 2016 CanJam London. This makes the headphone sound fantastic, and very balanced right across the frequency range. The NightOwl was originally mentioned in a TONEAudio ad in December 2015 but there hasnt been any new info about them until now. The improvement is drastic from the stock tuning the headphone comes with. In its place comes a more technical looking (Gray’s words) high gloss automotive paint. I think you will be totally impressed with it. In late 2016, and in (part) response to customer demand, AudioQuest introduced the NightOwl Carbon, a closed-back variant of the subsequently revised NightHawk, now dubbed NightHawk Carbon. Anyone who has had their Nightowl for quite a while, and knows it is fully burned in, should give this EQ a try with the pleather pads. Transportable: Foobar2000 > TEAC HA-P50 > AudioQuest NightOwl Carbon Portable: Android > TEAC HA-P50 > Pioneer HDJ-2000 or Grado iGe. I now have a slightly updated EQ to use with the pleather pads. It turns out that in the last two weeks or so, the Nightowl has continued to change and mature in its sound. I must admit, what I said before about the headphone finally being burned in at 150 hours of use was not totally accurate. Who knows how many hours I have on this puppy at this point. It has been a while since I posted on my Nightowl.
